yeah, the cover is a bit much.
this is the japanese version, supposedly the us release is gonna be different.

as far as the music? for fans of boris, it'd be not unlike pink met up with mabura no uta at a swank bar, and then met up with rainbow and dronevil final for a joint over at the studio.

doesn't really sound like anything they've ever done. a lot more attention to production, sounding maybe influenced at times by radiohead? tv on the radio? the cure? my bloody valentine?

i've been listening to so much of their boris (lower caps) output lately, that this one reeaallly hits out of left field. it's insane, experimenting a lot more with electronic, psychelic & 90's shoegaze, is what i hear off the bat.

like pink, it's a alot more streamlined for a wider audience (track 5 is almost complete pop in a rasberry beret type of way), but far from anything remotely mainstream. don't let the cover fool ya.

saw the promo photo, and didn't know what to expect. but that's their beauty/genius. i'm obsessed, yes. utterly. at least for me personally, a band comes along sometime in each decade and completely knocks me on my ass, posses me and reminds me why music is the most important thing. boris, for me, is that band. smile just reaffirms why.

uh, you're joking, right?

you dis on the 'ris and then offer up this?

oh, daug, you and your black metal...
talk about played out..

still getting spooked by powell/ peralta graphics?

uh, yeah, 'pink' was not my personal fave, but it still beats the shit out of any band of strung-out 40 somethings still bowing to the altar of mayhem, selling their schlock to angry kids that don't know any better.

please.

check out 'smile', it's not a 'pink' rehash. i think you'd dig it, if you can listen outside your all-things-burzum bubble.

bmetal guys? fuck no! poseurs.

I bet they'd shit themselves if they saw any supernatural apparitions of the strain that don't wanna go out for hot wings n watch porno. fucking sham!

cept for those guys from those couple metal bands that have murdered people. That shit is fucked and they probably do believe in satan. Not that belief has anything to do with....possible realities!

ha ha ha.

Nice try, friend. Perhaps one day you'll venture outside of your "all-things-indie-metal" bubble, and experience some true metal. Mayhem worship? Sounds like you're unaware that bm has continued to progress and morph into all sorts of vile, unholy creations since those early days. Yet, you do not explore beyond what is acceptable. You wallow in the flaccidness of the norm. You approach the belly of the beast, yet you avoid it. Why? Only you can answer this.

Explore your inner being, Josh. Ask yourself, "Do I want to spend money on a band that only makes ridiculously limited releases, so I have to go on ebay and fork over $100+ for it later?" Or do you want to use that money to explore the dark forests of the mind. The nether regions that even God himself won't enter. Who or what would unlock the gate to this frigid and bleak landscape? Try some bm on for size!
