My brother (who's main squeeze is an Observer employee) confirms says that she's out. Supposedly, both Merritt Martin and Noah Bailey are in the running to replace her, but with Village Voice Media's track record, who knows what the fuck will actually happen.

Edited in the interest of rewriting insignificant historical events in near-real-time.

The anonymous rumors have been confirmed by local producer Matt Barnhart at dRC's forums: Jonanna Widner is no longer music editor at the Dallas Observer. ...

ho shit! Took Sam Machkovech all of eleven minutes to take that for the solid truth.

Not exactly knocking on you, Mr. M., just the fact that MB's being taken as an authority on the subject.

Or on any subject besides tacos?

Anyway, I hope the Observer-machine figures out what the heck it wants.

If a third-hand, rumor-mongering source on an internet typing board couldn't qualify as "confirmation", every blog in the world would implode.

All I know is what my brother said on an unprovoked voicemail last night. He believes in unicorns, so take it with a grain of salt.
